YOU ARE NOT ALONE!!!

Many young people go through challenges. Challenges are normal but can be overwhelming sometimes. The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates 800,000 people dying of suicide every year and says it is the leading cause of death among youths and it’s affecting many families. Suicide is the act of taking one’s own life and occurs when a person feels that they are no longer able to cope with an overwhelming

situation. Sad isn’t it? However, the good news is that suicide is

preventable.

WARNING SIGNS!!!

  • Isolation
  • Aggressiveness and irritability
  • A sense of hopelessness
  • Drug and substance abuse
  • Drug and substance abuse
  • Suicide threats/notes
  • Giving things away/Funeral arrangement.
  • Risky behaviors
  • Talking about death
  • Negative self-esteem
  • Possessing lethal means; gun, rope, knife..

 

 

 

 

SEEK HELP…

  • Talk to a friend or family member about your feelings
  • Reach out to a Mental Health Support worker, Counselors, Psychologists, Therapists, Social Workers.
  • Reach out to organizations promoting mental health.
  • Find a mental health support group
  • Reach out to a wellness center in your institution if you’re a student.

  • Always remember that you are not alone and there are people willing to help you.
