What is stress?

Stress is a feeling of physical or emotional tension that comes from thought or event that makes you feel frustrated, nervous or angry.

It is a normal, healthy human response that helps us be more aware of our surroundings, plan and prepare for the future and get ready to take action.

SIGNS OF STRESS

Physical signs include; sleep problems, tension and fatigue

Emotionally a person is likely to experience anxiety, dear, grief, irritability and sadness.

One is likely to be avoidant, withdrawal from friends, seeking reassurance, have racing thoughts, persistent worry and negative thoughts.

TIPS FOR MANAGING STRESS

  1. Practice Healthy Habits

Physical exercise is important to keep your body healthy.

Nourish your body with a healthy diet, hydrate and take care of your body by showering and good groom

Also make sure that you get enough sleep.

  1. Make meaningful connections

Connect with your friends and family and people who support you.

  1. Practice Relaxation Techniques

Take time off your daily routine to unwind by listening to music, meditation,muscle stretches, relaxed or deep breathing or watching a movie. You can also journal or practice mindfulness.

  1. Mind your thoughts

The quality of your thoughts influence the quality of  your life. Worry makes you think of the worst.

Challenge negative thoughts and replace them with more positive thoughts.

  1. Practice Kindness

Be patient, kind and helpful. Be a positive influence to others.

  1. Seek help

It is important to know your stress limits.

Seek help from friends, family or contact a Counselor or Therapist.
