The Hidden Effects of Screen Time on Youth
By Jude E.
In today’s digital age, screens are everywhere. From smartphones to tablets, computers to televisions, youths are immersed in a sea of digital content. While technology offers numerous benefits, it’s essential to understand the impact of screen time on our younger generation. In this blog post, we’ll explore the effects of screen time on youths, backed by facts and evidence-based statistics. We’ll also provide insights on how to manage screen time effectively.
What is Screen Time?
Screen time refers to the amount of time spent using devices with screens, such as televisions, computers, tablets, and smartphones. For youths, screen time can include activities like watching videos, playing video games, using social media, and browsing the internet.

Protect and empower domestic staff: How to take action against abuse
By Mary-Anne Ifeoma
Every day, we come across cases of abuse meted out on domestic staff, physical abuse, emotional abuse, and sexual abuse. Most times the victims are reluctant to report such cases for fear of being stigmatized by the very people who are supposed to protect them. This then escalates into various degrees of mental illnesses such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, etc. If there’s no proper intervention, victims who are not emotionally stable might start having suicidal thoughts. We don’t want them to get to this level.
Here are some steps to take:
* Listen to their story with an open mind, offer emotional support and encourage them to report to local authorities.
* If possible, gather evidence of the abuse such as photos, videos, or witness statement
* Report the abuse to the police or social welfare
* Their well-being is paramount; Help them find a safer place, and if possible, assist them in getting a new job.
* Offer emotional support. Provide counselling resources and help them connect with friends and help them connect with friends and families.
* Do some background checks on a new employer to avoid a situation of moving from one abuse zone to another.
These issues exist in our communities. When we come across such incidents, let’s not hesitate to encourage them to seek help and support them throughout the process.

Stop the Cycle of Harmful Online Behavior with These Strategic Tips
By Mary-Anne Ifeoma
Protecting young people against the negative impacts of online screen times cannot be overemphasized.
Some of these activities have greatly affected their mental health leading to issues ranging from, low self-esteem, insecurities, social comparison, addictiveness, cyberbullying, hate speech, and violence.
Coping with some damaging effects of social media requires a combination of self-care, boundary-setting, and strategic actions.
Steps to adopt:
*Believe in yourself. Engage in Self Confidence Building Sessions. Parents/Guardians have a huge role to play.
* Desist from responding or reacting to certain comments.
* Make use of the social Media blocking or reporting features to limit the perpetrator’s access to your content.
*Consider taking a social media break.
*Be positive. Engage or follow accounts that inspire and uplift you.
*Seek professional support. Talk to family, friends, or a therapist about your feelings and experiences.
*Always report to appropriate authorities or trusted friend
*Leverage on the positive benefits of social media which far outweighs the negatives.
You have the power to control your online experience. Reach out for help and prioritize your emotional well-being.
Do you know someone going through this? Have you had a personal experience? Please kindly share your stories below.

Navigating Screen Time for Kids Tips and Insights for Modern Parents
By Jude E.
Introduction
In today’s digital age, managing screen time for children is a growing concern for many parents. With technology becoming an integral part of daily life, balancing the benefits and downsides of screen time is crucial. This blog post aims to provide parents with evidence-based insights and practical tips on managing screen time effectively. We’ll explore relevant statistics, expert recommendations, and practical strategies to help you create a healthy digital environment for your kids.
The Importance of Managing Screen Time
Managing screen time is essential for children’s physical, mental, and social development. Excessive screen time can lead to issues like eye strain, sleep disturbances, and reduced physical activity.
Syndrome of grasshopper mentality
By Pastor Jonathan Biowei
I want to express my profound gratitude to Prof. Jude, the GYMHA community and The Almighty God for this great opportunity to serve humanity.
You cannot make progress in life with a grasshopper mentality. Grasshopper mentality is the enemy of progression but the best friend of retrogression.
Grasshopper mentality is negativity that saps your energy. It drains you. It kills your future.
Grasshopper mentality is a negative mentality that belittles and makes you vulnerable. It is a negative energy that destroys from within.
This mentality belittles you but empowers your enemy. It downplays everything about you, and amplifies everything about your enemy.
