Global Youth Mental Health Awareness Inc. GYMHA Australia well represented – official launching of SAINT HERMANGUILD FOUNDATION INCOPRATED NIGERIA

MENTAL HEALTH A PRIORITY FOR ALL

The most common issue known to everyone as a mental health problem in this part of the world is madness. Many care less about mental health until people begin to dress in rags, talk to themselves and constitute a public nuisance.

As we celebrate world mental health day, let’s remember that we failed ourselves and many others who have a severe mental health problem. This is more reason we should make MENTAL HEALTH A PRIORITY FOR ALL.

A little act of kindness and care, just as the one SAINT HERMANGUILD FOUNDATION is extending to us, would go a long way in helping create mental health awareness.

But the major problem is that many do not know WHAT mental health is. They consider mental health problems to be just MADNESS.

Let’s look at what the WHO has to say about it.

WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION – WHO

The World Health Organization defines mental health as:

“Mental health is not just the absence of mental disorder.” It is defined as a state

of well-being in which every individual realises his or her own potential, can cope

with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to her or his community”

DAILY MENTAL HEALTH CHALLENGES WE FACE

  1. Stress
  2. Depression
  3. Anxiety

COMMON SIGNS OF POOR MENTAL HEALTH

◼Finding it difficult to concentrate

◼Taking longer to do tasks

◼Putting off challenging work

◼Being less patient with people or clients

◼Having difficulty making decisions

◼Experiencing poorer relationships with others

◼Finding it more difficult to learn new tasks

◼Physical symptoms, e.g., Disrupted sleep

WHY SHOULD WE DISCUSS MENTAL HEALTH? In order words: IMPORTANCE OF MENTAL HEALTH

Mental health is an important issue that affects us all. It can have a huge impact on our physical health, mental well-being, and overall quality of life. Unfortunately, mental illness is often overlooked or ignored altogether. It’s important to recognize the importance of mental health and to be proactive in taking steps to manage mental health proactively.

One of the most effective ways to do this is to be mindful of your mental health. Taking time for yourself, engaging in stress-relieving activities, and avoiding unnecessary mental stress can help alleviate mental health issues before they reach a point where they become debilitating. It’s also important to engage in regular mental wellness activities such as talking to a friend or loved one, exercising, and getting enough sleep.

Another part of mental health that’s often overlooked is mental hygiene. Making sure to practice healthy habits such as eating well, avoiding drugs and alcohol, and getting regular check-ups can all help keep mental health in check. It’s also important to identify mental health issues early on, as many mental illnesses can be managed if caught in time.

In addition to these preventive measures, it’s also essential to have a support system in place. Having friends or family members you can turn to during difficult times is invaluable and can help when mental health issues arise. It’s also important to seek out mental health professionals, such as therapists or counselors if needed.

Mental health is an integral part of overall well-being and should be taken seriously. Taking proactive steps to stay on top of your mental health can help you lead a healthier, happier life. So, take the time to make mental health a priority and you’ll be glad you did!

Mental health is nothing to joke about but taking it seriously doesn’t have to be boring. Taking the time to look after your mental health can lead to a more fulfilling life, so don’t underestimate its importance! It’s worth giving mental health the attention it deserves.

So, remember, mental health matters – make sure you look after it! Doing so can help set you on a path to mental well-being that will last a lifetime. So, take some time today and put mental health first. Your future self will thank you.

Happy mental health Day from all of us at Global Youth Mental Health Awareness Inc. GYMHA Australia.
